“The AASFoundation Research Fellowship Award has allowed me the unparalleled opportunity to pursue my goal of becoming a physician scientist. With the support of the AAS, I am able to dedicate two years during my surgical residency to cultivate my training as basic science researcher under the mentorship of established and gifted surgeon scientists.
My clinical training combined with my basic science experience will provide me with the solid foundation necessary to help me develop into an academic surgeon. As an academic surgeon, I hope to be able to answer clinically relevant problems in the laboratory to improve patient care. I am truly appreciative and indebted to the AAS for allowing me this opportunity.”
